MSDN-AA Program Expanded and Activation Issues

Postby Richard » Wed Oct 28, 2009 10:25 am

We've just got word that the University of Melbourne's MSDN-AA program has been expanded to all Engineering students!

This means that any student who's studying one of the courses below is eligible to software through the program.
  • Computer Science
  • Information Systems
  • Informatics
  • Engineering
If you're interested in taking this offer up, as always we're located on level 1 of the ICT Building (turn 120 degrees counter-clockwise just at the top of the second flight of stairs and you should be directly facing us). The best times to stop by are listed on the software page.

Windows 7 Activation Issues

It's come to our attention that a small subset of users are having trouble activating (not during installation where the key will be accepted) their Windows 7 keys through Microsoft. If you receive the error shown below during activation first, don't panic! The issue has been identified and fixed on our end and for all new sales following October 26th.

If you've purchased a key on the 1st September, 09 or between October 9th, 2009 - October 26th, 2009 then you may be affected.
  • If you've successfully activated your copy of Windows then no action needs to be taken - you're okay.
  • If you've installed and received the error during activation we can fix this - please see instructions for emailing us below
  • If you received a Windows 7 key during the above dates and haven't installed yet then you may receive that error when you activate. Unfortunately there's no way to tell until you've actually tried to activate so if you encounter an error then please see instructions for emailing us below.

Windows 7 Key Missing Last Character

If your CD Key is missing the last character then you should have already received an email from us. If you didn't receive it or are still having issues, please email us (see below).

Email Instructions

If you're having any of the problems mentioned above and have been instructed to send us an email, the address is packey at mucsa dot org

Please include the following information
  • Description of the problem you're having
  • Your Student ID
  • You UniMelb username (that you use to login with - not your password)
  • A valid email address (we'll send you an email)
  • The first 5 (and ONLY the first 5) characters (ie. the first block) of your CD key

We apologise for the inconvenience.
